Public Art Program wins 2025 Australian Good Design Award
Landcom and Sydney Metro have received national recognition at the 2025 Australian Good Design Awards for the Sydney Metro Northwest Places Public Art Program, taking home an award in the Built Environment – Installation Design category.
The award celebrates the power of public art to shape place and inspire people, and the program’s vision to use large-scale murals as cultural landmarks across Sydney’s northwest. The artworks honour Dharug traditions and reflect the region’s diverse and vibrant communities.
The program features nine major works, including:
-
The Golden Hour by Muralisto in Bella Vista
-
Casuarinas and Black Cockatoos by Tina Barahanos, Alexandra Byrne and Leanne Watson in Tallawong
-
The Hills Are Alive by Tina Havelock Stevens and collaborators in Bella Vista
-
Reprise by Ian Mutch in Bella Vista
-
Everything Comes Alive! by Nadia Hernández in Kellyville
-
Caring for Country by Maddison Gibbs in Cherrybrook
-
Hills Intervention by Bradley Eastman at Hills Showground and Norwest
-
It’s Transformation by students from Glenwood High School, Crestwood High School and artist Dave Coleman in Bella Vista and Kellyville
Together, these artworks form a creative trail connecting the region’s people and places.
Commissioned by Sydney Metro and Landcom, the program is an example of how art can strengthen place identity and community connection.
Plan a day out with family or friends and follow the Art Track Map to explore each of these award-winning artworks along the Metro line.
