Hills Showground park consultation

Indicative artist impression, subject to change and subject to approvals

A new park in a growing neighbourhood

Landcom is planning a new urban neighbourhood park in the Hills Showground Station Precinct. The park will be close to Hills Showground Station and is adjacent to Carrington Road.

The park will be delivered and constructed by Landcom, subject to The Hills Shire Council approving the development application.

Vision for the park

The park will be a ‘leafy shared backyard’ where the community can relax, exercise, play, be creative or meet with friends and family. We want to create spaces that appeal to all age groups and park users. The park will become an important local space in this new neighbourhood.

We need to balance the needs of the current and future community when designing the park. This means thinking about the range of people who may want to use the park, for example, younger and older people, people from a range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds and people with specific access needs such as those with disabilities.

Community engagement

In August and October 2021 we held online consultation to help us develop the designs for the park.

Thank you to the many people who shared their thoughts about the park. Our online consultation page was viewed 2,065 times and we received 458 responses.

We have now lodged the development application for the park with The Hills Shire Council. The community feedback received during the online consultation is outlined in the community engagement outcomes report, which is included in the development application package. We have also prepared a summary of how community feedback shaped the design.

Council has now placed the development application on public exhibition. The exhibition is open until Tuesday 1 February 2022 and provides an additional opportunity for the community to provide feedback.

You can view the development application on Council’s website by searching for the application number 988/2022/JPZ.
